Taekwondo tournament scoring

Score the ring from
the judges' hands.

TKD Ring is a scoring system for taekwondo tournaments. Judges score on a phone or tablet, the operator runs the ring, and the audience sees every score as it lands. It runs entirely on the venue's own network: no internet connection, no accounts, no cloud.

One ring, three screens

Every ring has a scoring computer. Everything else connects to it over the venue's Wi-Fi.

Judge app

For iPhone, iPad and Android. Large deduction buttons at the edge of the screen, presentation sliders, and Chung and Hong on the correct sides for where each judge sits.

Browser judge

The same judge screen, served by the ring's computer to any phone's browser. If a device fails mid-division, a replacement is scoring in seconds with nothing to install.

Operator screen

Runs the ring: brackets, poomsae draws, the timer, penalties, judge seats and corrections, all from one screen at the control table.

Audience display

Shows the match, the drawn poomsae and the timer, then every judge's score with the high and low dropped, the final score and the winner.

Disciplines

One judge app for every discipline. The ring tells the app what is being judged.

First

TKD Ring - Poomsae

Recognized poomsae to World Taekwondo rules, with USA Taekwondo differences as event settings. Individual, pairs and team; single elimination and cutoff; panels of 3, 5 or 7 judges.

Coming

Breaking

Breaking divisions in the same app, on the same rings.

Later

More disciplines

Additional disciplines will follow in the same app.

Built for a sports hall, not a data center

  • No internet needed. The ring computer, judge devices and screens talk over the venue's local Wi-Fi. A lost internet connection changes nothing.
  • Scores are never lost in transit. A submitted score stays on the judge's device until the ring confirms it, and is resent after a dropped connection. The ring never counts a resend twice.
  • The judge sees what the ring holds. After submitting, the judge's screen shows the score the ring actually received.
  • Seats are protected. Taking over a judge seat that is already in use needs the operator's approval, so a spectator can't take a judge's place.
  • A check before submitting. The app asks for one extra tap before submitting a score with no deductions or untouched presentation.
  • Corrections leave a record. Every change the operator makes is previewed, needs a reason, and is logged alongside the original score.
